New Details & Screenshots for Echoes of Wisdom! (2024)

problem with the oot theory is link doesn't have the master sword, the deku tree is elder and alive, the link model appears to still be a child, and zelda escaped the crystal before ganondorf transformed into his beast form. I've heard others say alttp but the problem with that is deku tree, ocean zoras, gerudo town no longer being abandoned, and lon lon appears to be missing from the botw shot ( though i doubt lon lon wont be in given that malon and marin share the same model, same goes for talon/tarin) this is likely an all new story or retconning the current continuity in the era of legend

My conclusion is that it's a sequel to A Link between Worlds with a new incarnation of Link and Zelda given that the Hyrule we see in the trailer looks nothing like either Hyrules from both games in the "Triforce of the Gods" duology. If you notice neither Link's house or Death Mountain are on their respective locations from both ToftG games meaning a lot of time must have passed for the geography to have shifted so much in order to become the one we see in the trailer. It's either a post ALbW's sequel or magic shenanigans are switching around the map.

    "elder and alive"
We don't see the Great Deku Tree moving at all. Maybe he is dead. And its design is basically identical to OOT.
Also, I think it could work well to retcon how the Downfall Timeline happens. Because let's be real, everybody HATED the Downfall Timeline when it was revealed. Lore-wise it could make more sense if Link was unable to wield the Master Sword because he was too young, tries to fight Ganondorf anyway and fails, and to create the OOT we know, the Master Sword is made aware of this fact and on that timeline decides to seal Link away instead, leading to a different scenario.
The official timeline obviously says Link dies at the final boss (which is dumb as hell), but it is absolutely in-character for the Zelda team to completely retcon these story ideas all the time.
"Gerudo Town no longer being abandoned"
We couldn't travel far enough into the desert to even find Gerudo Town. This world map expands beyond the bounds of the LTTP world map. There was no "Gerudo Town" in LTTP or any Gerudo at all, but they could have been off-screen beyond the bounds of the explorable map.
Also, there is no "Gerudo Town" in any game except BOTW/TOTK anyway. That's where Gerudo Town exists. However, its not impossible Gerudo Town exists in the world of OOT. Its just in a part of the desert we can't visit and could be resided in by friendlier Gerudo not loyal to Ganondorf. The only Gerudo location we visit in OOT is Gerudo Fortress (and for all we know, this town could be this game's version of Gerudo Fortress rather than Gerudo Town, we don't know its name yet).
TOTK's backstory actually has multiple sects of Gerudo; some loyal to Ganondorf and some that aren't. The ones that are have the "Gerudo Thief" design, while the sole Gerudo we see in that scenario who is against Ganondorf appears closer to the modern BOTW/TOTK Gerudo design.
This game also has the "Gerudo Thief" design interestingly enough. Gerudo Thief designs only existed in OOT, MM (which were Gerudo Pirates instead), and TOTK's backstory.
    "Ocean Zoras"
We couldn't reach the ocean in LTTP. Don't forget about Yona in TOTK. How is that relevant? Yona doesn't exist in BOTW, she appears out of nowhere but "comes from another domain" which cannot be visited in either game. Her domain doesn't exist in the world map, but it does exist.
Saying this can't be connected to other games because of Ocean Zoras or Gerudo is irrelevant because they can simply be off-screen from the known world map.
    "Lon Lon Ranch"
The ranch could be part of Kakariko here, which appears to be just south of Hyrule Castle. Its not in LTTP's usual position, as there's just ruins there. From the "BOTW shot" we can see stone pillars that resemble the ones in the key art and that key art clearly shows Kakariko just to the west of Zelda's position.
But let's be real, if you're concerned about Lon Lon, the fact that this map is based on LTTP's layout would kill that idea first. But we acknowledge timeline placements all the time despite chaos architecture being a thing. TP's world looks nothing like OOT's.
None of these issues are problems with either theory at this point in time.
What is a problem with something close in time to LTTP is the fact that Link's house is missing and Castle Town exists inside the Hyrule Castle walls.

@@javiervasquez625 "Death Mountain" is exactly where its supposed to be in this game. It hasn't moved. In LTTP, "Death Mountain" was not volcanic, it was only volcanic in the Dark World. Also, it wasn't even called Death Mountain in the Light World in Japan. It was called "Hebra".
Here, the same mountain STILL exists. It hasn't moved. But now its snowy, just like BOTW/TOTK's Hebra Mountain. A brand new mountain was added that resembles OOT and BOTW/TOTK Death Mountain, but on the opposite side of what is probably Hebra.
If anything this probably points to pre-LTTP if we're really digging THAT deep into the details. By the events of Link Between Worlds it has become volcanic. This progression idea works if we think of it like this:
Over time the volcano becomes more active, starting from a snowy mountain and gradually becomes warmer until it becomes volcanic by LBW.
It also ironically lines up well with Minish Cap, too. Minish Cap had a volcanic mountain in the northwest and a non-volcanic mountain in the northeast.

@@JaidynReiman One problem: "Ganon" is still *sealed* within the _Sacred Realm_ prior to the events of A Link to the Past making it impossible for him to walk alive and free in the Light World while still trapped inside the Sacred Realm at the same time. It's clearly a sequel to A Link between Worlds as Ganon's imprisonment and death across both Triforce of the Gods games makes it impossible for him to be free in the Light World either prior or right after the events of A Link to the Past.
