It is a dream come true to share that I graduated from Cornell University with a double major in Spanish and American Studies with Magna Cum Laude honors. As a first-generation college student, I am so proud of myself and everyone who has helped me get to this point. The privilege to call myself a Cornell alumna will never be lost on me, and I'm so grateful for the ability to pass along all of this knowledge. Sí se pudo! The Posse Foundation, the Cornell University Translator-Interpreter Program, and the Latino Studies Program were all instrumental in my Cornell experiences, and my sincerest thank you goes out to every individual who has lifted and supported me these last 4 years! I completed my senior thesis, "¿Cómo se dice, "shame"? Un viaje narrativo realizado por inmigrantes en los Estados Unidos" through creating a collection of short stories all about shame within the immigrant experience, and was chosen by the College of Arts & Sciences for an Extraordinary Journey Senior Spotlight. I was also granted an award on behalf of the Latino Studies Program for outstanding work in the Latina/o Studies undergraduate minor, community engagement and academic achievements. 5 jobs, 3 internships, and countless lessons later, my stoles and cords were definitely earned!I'm so excited to embark on a new journey post-graduation, and am looking for positions working in language access, immigration advocacy, or anything involved in the fight for a better world. Please reach out if you're interested in connecting!

What a weekend at the Cornell Alumni Leadership Conference! As a student member of the Einhorn Center for Community Engagement at Cornell’s Alumni Advisory Council, I’ve been able to share more on the current student perspective and experience this weekend down in Baltimore, and presented during a meeting with our own Einhorn council! This conference has sparked so much reflection over how to use our alumni power to strengthen and improve the student experience. Especially with my graduation in May coming closer, I ponder, how will my alumni privileges work hand in hand to my commitment to social justice, human rights, and language access? Additionally, what ever will I do now with all this Cornell swag? Special thanks and shout-out to my Cornell University Translator-Interpreter Program family, and my colleagues with me at CALC, Aaron Goldweber, Liz Millhollen, Ella Paolucci, Laila Rahbari, and Angelina Tang. Go Big Red! #cornelluniversity #leadershipdevelopment #cornellalumni #socialjustice

With my internship at the Migration Policy Institute going full steam ahead, I gave a presentation to the staff this morning on my research regarding oral histories recorded by migrants of Limited English Proficiency status. It was incredible to share a bit of my passion regarding language equity, and hear about the language access field from the experts themselves.I created this collection in AMST 2251 at Cornell this past fall with professor Maria Cristina Garcia, another whose voice I appreciate so greatly in the migration policy discussion. Thank you to all my mentors at MPI who helped me in preparing this presentation!Feel free to reach out with any questions regarding this research topic.
