The Lewarde Historical Mining Center presents the exhibition Miners of Ukraine based on the photographic work of Youry Bilak, to be discovered until September 22, 2024. As a museum that is always involved in the life of the city, the Historical Mining Center pays homage, through this exhibition, to a European country with a long mining tradition which is experiencing a tragic contemporary history. In the fifth edition of his ongoing book series Thank you for your business, Quentin de Briey presents a collection of personal and editorial photographs taken in New York. The book features a mix of black and white and color photographs, showcasing images of skateboarders, portraits of friends, and editorials created for various magazines. (more…)

Luigi Ghirri was born in 1943 in Scandiano, in the province of Reggio Emilia, Italy. He shares an interest for vernacular cultures with Walker Evans, by whom he affirms having been strongly influenced since 1977. In 1979, he shows extracts from the series “Breakfast the grass” and “Italian memories” at the Venice Biennale. (more…)

Yet despite the apparent freedom from rigid structures and time cards, many employees continue to struggle for fair conditions. Invisible work such as unpaid housework or care work, frequently carried out by women, is also a social problem at present and shows the need to address inequalities and exploitation. CAMERA’s summer program focuses on another great photographer, American Margaret Bourke-White, following the success of monographs on Eve Arnold and Dorothea Lange. Saul Leiter photographed and painted nearly every day for over sixty years, amassing an enormous archive, most of which remained unseen during his lifetime. Finding inspiration within a few blocks of his apartment in Lower Manhattan, he was a master at discovering beauty in the most ordinary places. Already, 40% of the world’s population is affected by water scarcity and, with human-induced climate change, this is getting much worse. Water Pressure: Designing for the Future – an exhibition of the MK&G and Jane Withers Studio – looks at the water crisis from a global perspective, displaying ideas and proposals that illuminate the potential for shaping a radically different future.
