What a freaking moron. Trying to rip people off like this. Here's a copy of the ad, since i'm sure it'll get flagged soon.

"Pie Bald x Enchi Ball Python with EVERYTHING!!!

This is a 3 yr old proven breeder female. Approx. 3.75'. She is the offspring of a 100% Pie Bald and a 100% Enchi Pastel ball python. She has given me one clutch already and is ready to be gravid again. In her clutch of 24 eggs 8 were purely pied, 7 were Enchi Pastels, and 9 resembled their mother. She has 3 leucistic Pied markings, ghost fading between every side saddle, and pastel cinnamon "humps" along the dorsal midline. Her head is predominantly cinnamon with a truely one of a kind cross on the top of the skull. She comes with a 29 gallon tank, under tank heater, water pond large enough for full submersion, lighting fixture, uva/uvb light, screen top with locking clips and her first meal! Asking $350 for adoption will ship and will consider all offers. Any questions feel free to ask."

And, when i emailed to ask what male they bred her to that produced that incredible clutch i was told " a HET Pastel". LMFAO!!!! I think they are just trying to sell a normal for a greatly over-inflated price. Here's a link to the add too:

Here is the email I received from the person when I inquired. How do you have a het for pastel?????

I am inquiring about the ball python you have listed. You say she laid 24 eggs? What did you breed her with? That is an amazing clutch! Mine usually only lay 4-8 eggs. Anyway, any info (background, original breeder) would be great. Thanks.

she was bred with a 5 foot male heterozygous for pastel. the male was one of my own breeding from a previous clutch. the female is one i acquired about 1 1/2 years ago from a fellow breeder friend of mine according to his records he believes to have acquired her from Bob Clark reptiles from an early '05 clutch. The father was 100% enchi pastel and the mother was 100% het for pie bald. and if you are having problems with clutch size it could be a number of factors... the size of the male in proportion to the female, the body fat ratio of the female at the beginning of courtship... more important and probable factors though would be the availability of fresh water throughout the process of gestation. i filter and replenish my water reservoirs daily with ionized, distilled water. humidity is kept around 75% and ambient temp around 82, with a basking area around 90. there is a cool spot in one corner down to about 75. also the substrate can make a difference. i use regularly misted organic coconut husk and place a humidity/air exchange hose in the corner. hope that answers your questions

Not too difficult, actually. I've got two in my rack upstairs.

A pastel is a visual het - and the hom*ozygous form is called "super pastel".

Therefore, any pastel carrier that isn't a super pastel is het-for-pastel Another Craigslist idiot! (15)

But the animal they've listed... that's a silly one!

Quoted from http://www.snowballsballpythons.com/provenmorphs.htm
The Pastel Jungle trait was proven be to Co-Dominant (incomplete dominant) by Graziani Reptiles in 1997. This means that when a male Pastel Jungle is bred to a normal female a portion of the resulting offspring will look like the sire while the remaining will be normal's. When two Pastel Jungles are bred together, you have the chance to produce a Super Pastel Jungle while the remaining offspring will be Pastel Jungles and possibly normals. Pastel Jungles have a more vivid contrast in the coloration. The blacks and yellows in them seem to be more pronounced than in other lines of Pastels.

So no, a super pastel is 2 pastels bred together to produce a "super" hom*ozygous pastel. They are either pastel or they arent.

I think you're confusing "Het" with "recessive/invisible" and "hom*ozygous" with "dominant/visible".

Heterozygous means only and exclusively "The two genes of the pair are different" - and a visual pastel has one copy of Pastel and one copy of "not pastel" on the Pastel gene pair. It is heterozygous for the Pastel gene.

hom*ozygous means only and exclusively "The two genes of the pair are the same" - and a visual super pastel has two copies of Pastel and NO copies of "not pastel" on the pastel gene pair. It is hom*ozygous for the Pastel gene.
A normal has two copies of "not pastel" on the pastel gene pair. It is hom*ozygous for "not pastel".

Recessive traits have "invisible" hets.
Dominant and Co/incomplete dominant traits have VISIBLE hets.

A Pastel royal python is a het - but it is not an invisible het.
